Wenche's Waffles

Waffels are Norwegian. I know Belgians would lay claim on them as well - but to a Norwegian, waffles are ours. It is so much so that a previous Minister of Culture claimed waffles is what makes Norwegian culture Norwegian - among other things.

Ingredients

  • 2 pcs eggs
  • 4 dl milk whole fat
  • 3 dl kefir
  • 1 dl sugar
  • 1 dl butter melted
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp baking soda (natron)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp cardamom
  • 500 g wheat flour

Instructions

  • Melt your butter over medium heat
  • Beat together eggs and sugar.
  • Add the milk and butter (in that order) to the eggs and sugar
  • Sift in all the dry ingredients and beat until you get a smooth and thick batter.
  • Bake in a waffle maker (not the Belgian type!)
